Tiyimeleni Community Nursery Benefits from a KNP 100 Years Legacy Project

A newly upgraded community nursery called Tiyimeleni which include a 15 m × 35 m greenhouse, a shelter for operational activities, storeroom, office, paving, sign board, 2 x 5000 water tanks, garden tools, plant bags and irrigation pipes, all worth over R400 000 has been handed over to the community of Belfast. The community nursery is adjacent to Kruger National Park in Belfast, a village outside Paul Kruger Gate.

The nursery employees also received a boost in a two-day business and computer training through a collaboration with Good Work Foundation, with the nursery project leader receiving a laptop and mobile phone for improved business management.

Tiyimeleni has been identified as one of the community nurseries that must benefit through legacy projects of the KNP Centenary which are intended to lay a foundation towards a future of inclusive conservation.

This initiative is made possible through a collaboration between Kruger National Park (KNP), the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment as well as the NGO Save the Sand and is sponsored by TotalEnergies South Africa.
