SANParks celebrated Earth Day 2008 on Tuesday 22 April by voluntarily shutting down all non-essential electricity for two hours and by signing a pledge and making a promise to help preserve the Earth and her natural resources.
At the same time, SANParks ran an E-pledge on our website where our forum members and others from around the world could be included in our planned activity. There were a total of 119 people who signed the E-pledge and made individual promises to change their lifestyles to help save the Earth.
The names of everyone who signed the E-pledge were entered into a draw to win one of five SANParks environmental torches. This draw took place on Wednesday 30 April at SANParks Head Office.
The five winners are:
1. Barbara Cracknell
2. Sara Foster
3. Nazneen Essop
4. James Daniels
5. Mavis Moyo
Congratulations and thank you for making a change!
The winners may contact Ms. Zakiya Fareed at SANParks Corporate Communications on +27 12 426 5202 or +27 82 7666 342 or via email at [email protected] to claim your prize.
We at SANParks wish to thank all who participated in this initiative and who made it a success. We hope to see you all renew your pledges in the same way on Earth Day 2009 and encourage more people to participate so that we can spread the habit of saving resources to save the Earth!
