The consistent hard work and dedication of staff at SANParks’ Northern Region paid off when employees from three of its parks walked away with various awards from this year’s SANParks Northern Regional Achievement Awards.

The 2024 SANParks Northern Regional Awards function took place on Thursday, 31 October 2024 at Golden Gate Hotel. The ceremony was held in honour of staff members who went beyond the call of duty, and they were awarded with certificates for their excellence.

Among the winners were Mr Malefetsane Molefi, a Field Ranger at Golden Gate Highlands National Park who was awarded the Lifetime Contribution Award for his 30 years of service. Golden Gate Highlands National Park was also awarded the Best Performing Camp Award for Highlands Mountain Retreat.

Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site was awarded the Park of The Year Award, while its Park Manager, Mr Mphadeni Nthangeni received the Leadership Award. Mr Steven Khosa from Marakele National Park walked away with the Research, Initiatives and Innovation Award for the work he does as a biotechnician in the region.

The Best Ranger Post was awarded to Golden Gate Highlands National Park’s Gladstone Ranger Post and Marakele’s Molapofifi Ranger Post.

The SANParks Northern Regional Awards also awarded 12 Best Customer Service Awards, 18 Excellent Performance in the Workplace Awards, 1 Best Constituency Builder Award and 1 Best Performing Division/ Business Unit across the region.
