SANParks and Knysna Municipality Strengthen Local Economic Empowerment Through MSME Engagement in Knysna

A total of 120 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from communities surrounding Knysna attended an Information Sharing Workshop hosted by South African National Parks (SANParks), in partnership with the Knysna Municipality, on 23 April 2026 at Premier Hotel, Knysna.

MSMEs received guidance on SANParks and Knysna Municipality supply chain processes, including compliance, and regulatory standards to enhance eligibility for procurement opportunities. The session also reinforced adherence to National Treasury regulations to promote fair, transparent and accountable procurement.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA), Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), Department of Employment and Labour, NHBRC, and Standard Bank Relationship Bankers. These institutions provided insights into available financial support, compliance obligations, and enterprise development programmes aimed at strengthening the sustainability of local businesses.

MSMEs were also allowed to engage directly with stakeholders, raise operational challenges, and participate in structured networking sessions with fellow service providers.

The workshop forms part of SANParks’ broader enterprise and supplier development strategy, which aims to enhance local economic participation, improve compliance readiness, and increase access to procurement opportunities within SANParks.
