During the early morning of 27 August 2005 Stormsrivermouth Rest Camp was poundered by waves of about 9 Metres high.

Some of our units had to be evacuated due to the rough conditions and flooding which took place. Our three Honeymoon cottages were affected the most and will be withdrawn for maintenance for at least 2 weeks. A number of guest vehicles were also flooded and damaged. Day visitors parking and picnic area was completely flooded and braai facilities demolished. The swimming pool was turned into a tidal pool with damage to pump installations. Damage of ± R300,000-00 was caused.
