Media Release: The 2014 Kumba-Marakele Marathon
The Kumba-Marakele marathon, which takes place on 1 March 2014, is held in the park to focus the public and the media”s attention on the importance of conservation. It also highlights various fundraising and tourism initiatives which are key to the functioning of the national park.
Furthermore, the marathon aims to deliver a successful marathon that provides an opportunity for runners to experience the wild as well as get the opportunity to qualify for the Comrades marathon. More than just a runners” challenge, the Kumba Marakele Marathon aims to be a fun day out, bringing together families from across the country in order to promote healthy lifestyles, conservation and tourism.
