SANParks employees visited wards 8.5 and 8.6 which cater for children between the ages of two and 12 years with varying degrees of illnesses, such heart diseases and kidney failure. The team, which included senior management, spent the day playing with kids and a host of toys were distributed to the kids.
“We are happy to devote 67 minutes of our time to the children at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. We could not think of a better way of spending this day than with the children whom Madiba loved dearly and championed amongst other things, a better future for them,” said Acting Head of Communication, Reynold Thakhuli.
“We”d like to thank hospital management for affording us the opportunity to spend this precious time with the children. We believe that our humanitarian gesture will make a lasting impression to these courageous children. After everything that Nelson Mandela has done for this country and the world at large, it is up to us individuals and organisations to make a difference in communities around us thus putting in practice SANParks vision statement which points to “Connecting to Society”,” concluded Thakhuli.
Steve Biko Academic Hospital (formally Pretoria Academic Hospital) is a tertiary healthcare institution, rendering specialized and highly specialized services to medically referred patients from local clinics.
