Media Release: Gallet Group raises R325 000 for SANParks Ranger Assist Fund

The significant sum was raised solely through a client golf day hosted by the Gallet Group at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club for the SANPark”s Ranger Assist Fund (RAF).

The cheque hand-over took place today at the SANParks head office in Pretoria where SANParks CEO, Fundisile Mketeni, received the donation from the Gallet Group Managing Director, Steve Beck.

All of the funds raised will be used by SANParks for the sole purpose of providing for and assisting rangers trained for duty in the Kruger National Park.

“We would like to thank the Gallet Group for this very generous donation. The stepping up of anti-rhino poaching activities has stretched our resources and this valuable contribution will go a long way to ensuring that conservation efforts for fauna, flora and wildlife are not jeopardised,” said Mketeni.

“Conserving South Africa”s natural habitats for future generations is a cause very close to our hearts. We are extremely proud to have raised such a significant sum of money for this important SANParks RAF initiative,” said the Gallet Group Managing Director, Steve Beck.

Beck went on to say that this golf day fundraiser would now become an annual event for the group, and that he challenged other South African corporates to do the same for the RAF initiative.

He also encouraged them to adopt a similar format to the event where the group themselves covered all the expenses for the golf day, and all their clients made a donation to play.

SANParks has pledged to use the Gallet Group golf day initiative as a flagship example and hoped to encourage similar fundraising campaigns and corporate support for the RAF.

“With corporate support and investment into initiatives such as this SANParks will most certainly achieve its objective of nature conservation,” said Mketeni.

“The Gallet Group is in the business of administering retirement funds, which are long-term investments. This investment into the RAF is also long-term, with the intention that our clients are able to enjoy our national parks well into their retirement,” said Beck.
