A fatal incident involving a hiker who accidentally fell from one of the Lion’s Head trails within Table Mountain National Park occurred earlier this morning, Thursday, 18 December 2025.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after the incident, and a coordinated response was immediately activated. Despite the efforts of all involved, the hiker was sadly declared deceased at the scene.
The incident has been handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS), who will conduct the necessary investigation. Out of respect to the family, SANParks will not provide further details of the deceased.
