Being a premier conservation agency in South Africa, SANParks has always been committed towards combating climate change and the loss of biodiversity and education around conservation, all of which are goals for the Earth Day campaign. The campaign aims to highlight the constantly deteriorating condition of the environment and to educate the citizens of the world about how every individual can make a difference.
Speaking at the SANParks Earth Day event, Kevin Moore, Manager: Conservation Interpretation, emphasised the importance of recycling within the organisation. “We are all linked in some way to the earth and everything in it. There is only one earth and if you or I throw away rubbish, it does not just disappear. We therefore have to Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.”
What can you and I do?
We all have a role to play and we call upon individuals to do their part. This collective effort can and will make a huge difference, not only financially but in saving our natural resources as well.
Issues such as the greenhouse effect, global warming, toxic waste and overfishing, are a few of the many challenges this world faces and it”s time we commit ourselves to building a safer, healthier, cleaner and sustainable world regardless of race, gender, nationality or faith.
