A total of 163 Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) from the construction and property development sector participated in a Construction and Development Expo held at the Conville Community Hall in George on 18 June 2026.
The event was hosted through a partnership between South African National Parks (SANParks), George Municipality, and the Development Action Group (DAG) to strengthen compliance, improve access to opportunities, and connect businesses with the support, finance and partnerships required to grow sustainable enterprises.
More than 22 organisations participated in the expo, including the South African Revenue Service (SARS), CIPC, Department of Employment and Labour, National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), and the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
Through panel discussions, stakeholders shared valuable insights into industry compliance requirements and funding opportunities, reinforcing the message that compliance is a critical enabler of business growth, access to procurement opportunities, and finance. Attendees were equipped with practical knowledge to strengthen their businesses and improve their competitiveness within the sector.
SANParks presented its SANLAM SANParks interest-free purchase order funding, outlining the application process, eligibility requirements, and guiding businesses on SANParks’ procurement processes.
The expo also provided a platform for direct engagement between SMMEs, government departments, and industry stakeholders, fostering collaboration and access to essential support networks. SANParks remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen local enterprises, promote compliance, and contribute to sustainable economic development in communities neighbouring national parks.
