Addo Elephant National Park Undertakes To Get Local Business Involved

Communities and business owners surrounding Addo Elephant National Park (AENP) will have the opportunity to engage with SANParks staff on investment opportunities inside the Park during one of three Economic Transformation Roadshows next month.

South African National Parks (SANParks) strives to promote economic and social development to its neighbouring Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME’s). This is achieved through its Socio-Economic Transformation Strategy, which aims to initiate, facilitate and coordinate an integrated development programme for the benefit of current and future generations.

The Economic Transformation Roadshows have a number of key objectives:

  • To communicate business opportunities inside the Park in relation to its supply chain procurement plans, tourism development and infrastructure projects.
  • To showcase high-level investment opportunities within the Addo Elephant National Park.
  • To communicate timeframes within which relevant business and investment opportunities become available in the immediate, medium and longer terms.
  • To provide a roadmap of the “How” to access available and planned opportunities.

Park staff, together with its Strategic Partners, will engage with delegates on addressing common barriers to entry faced by SMME’s (including access to markets, funding, capacity building, skills development and compliance issues).

To this end, staff aim to break boundaries with communities, open up dialogue and engage in available and future business opportunities. These will take place in the towns of Addo (Valencia Hall) on Monday 5 June, Kirkwood (NG Kerk Sundays River) on Wednesday 7 June and Alexandria (NG Kerk) on Friday 9 June. Representatives from various government departments as well as local and district municipalities will also be on hand to field queries and provide clarity.

Interested business owners or representatives need to book their seats with Mxolisi Molefe at [email protected] or 042 233 8659 by no later than Monday 29 May 2023.
