Biodiversity Social Project: 20X Armed Environmental Monitors

The above positions are fixed term contracts up to the end of March 2027, renewable by mutual agreement and further funding. Salary will be on a daily rate of R311.00.

Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12 / NCV 4/ NQF level 4.
  • Field ranger training certificates or NQF level 2.
  • EMI grade 5 training certificate (Card) will serve as an added advantage.
  • Self-loading Firearm training certificates with SAPS competency certificate (Private and business unit standards).
  • Firearms Regulation 21/79 annual retraining certificates.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in antipoaching operations in big five.
  • environment will serve as an added advantage.
  • Firefighter training certificate will serve as added advantage.
  • No criminal record.
  • Minimum code 8 driver’s license will serve as added advantage.
  • Candidates Will be subjected to fitness test.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental monitoring and information gathering for research purposes.
  • Participate in law enforcement operations which include antipoaching patrols.
  • Assist in predator fence maintenance.
  • Participate in fire management, eradication of alien fauna and flora and land rehabilitation.
  • Ensure safety of BSP teams and individuals from dangerous animals whilst working in the field.
  • Assist with infrastructure maintenance in the parks and sections.
  • Basic data capture and quality control.
  • Assist with assets and equipment management.
  • Assisting Section ranger with all routine tasks and ad hock duties.
  • Will be required to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Must be passionate about Nature conservation.
  • Willingness to work irregular and long hours as and when required.

Please Note

Police clearance certificate to be submitted or will be done in the park.

Employment will be in line with the Employment Equity plan, and SANParks reserves the right not to make an appointment.

Salary

R311 Per Day
