Coordinator: Monitoring and Evaluation (5-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

SANParks unveiled a highly ambitious vision, called Vision 2040, following a collaborative and inclusive process to re-imagine and co-create a new future for conservation areas with a concerted effort to include the citizens of the country and world at large in the co-creation of National Protected Areas of the future within Mega Living Landscapes (MLL). In support of this vision, SANParks has secured grant funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF-8) and the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF) to catalyse implementation of Mega Living Landscapes.

They will be responsible for successfully developing and implementing Project Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans for the GEF 8 and GBFF-funded Mega Living Landscapes (MLL) projects. This role is crucial for designing and implementing an integrated M&E framework, in alignment with projects outcomes, outputs and deliverables and targets throughout the project’s lifecycle. The coordinator will dedicate 100% of their time to managing the projects M&E.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator: MLL reports to the Senior Project Manager: MLL and will be based at Groenkloof Office, Pretoria. The position is a 100% project funded, project dedicated role responsible for the collection and analysis of different data in relation to the project activities, outputs, and outcomes; maintaining the M&E results frameworks of the projects; and assisting the Senior Project Manager in preparing quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports on project progress.

Requirements

  • NQF Level 7 in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Research, Data Management, or a related field
  • 3–5 years’ relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, program performance, research, data management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and implementing M&E frameworks and systems.
  • Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience preparing donors, management, or stakeholder reports.

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

  • NQF Leve 8 in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Research, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant training or certification in M&E, project management, data analysis, or results-based management is advantageous.
  • Experience conducting data quality assessments and supporting program evaluations.

Responsibilities

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT MONITORING AND EVALUATION SYSTEM

  • Design and oversee the implementation of a Projects Monitoring and Evaluation Plan (to monitor, evaluate and report on performance, considering any existing approaches.
  • Conceptualize and develop tools, frameworks, templates and models for Projects performance monitoring, evaluation, reflection and reporting, taking into account any existing approaches.
  • Take the lead in ensuring high levels of data and information quality is maintained in monitoring and evaluation reports.

MANAGE PROJECT MONITORING AND EVALUATION

  • Maintain awareness of relevant sector developments to gather intelligence, insights and examples of best practice.
  • Lead all regular and ad-hoc monitoring and evaluation tasks to identify strengths and weaknesses in performance.
  • Lead and ensure the effective monitoring of GEF8/GBFF Projects in line with the results framework.

REPORTING

  • Compile, coordinate and finalize periodic reports as may be required by GEF Agency.
  • Lead M&E reporting to management by providing written documentation and/or presentations on M&E activities and indicator results for progress, quarterly, mid-year, annual reports and plans, etc. as appropriate and required.
  • Provide reports on performance and scenario and situational analyses respectively, with recommendations for improvement of performance.

Salary

R 630,000.00 – R945,000.00 annual package
