Gate Closure - Annual West Coast Marathon - 14 March 2020
Please note that the annual West Coast marathon will take place on 14th March 2020. In the event, various road closures will come into effect within/along West Coast National Park. Due to the sporting event being held, we request that the internal road system be used for emergencies only during the following times on Saturday 14th March 2020:

Wild Cards sales at West Coast National Park
Wild cards at West Coast National Park can only be purchased at the visitor centre at Geelbek or at the Langebaan office. Currently such cards cannot be purchased at either of the two gates (Langebaan or R27 gate). No refunds are available to visitors who enter the park at either of these two gates and pay conservation fees and then purchase a wild card thereafter. Visitors are thus encouraged to renew or purchase their wild cards (where applicable) online or at the Langebaan office before entering the park.
West Coast National Park : Kraalbaai Precinct upgrade
West Coast National Park ( WCNP) has received an environmental approval authorisation to proceed with the upgrade of the public and park facilities at Kraalbaai.
The park will be erecting new ablutions, an office and redoing resurfacing the car park at the location. The long term impact will be a much improved visitor experience in the area.
The upgrade will commence on the 21st of January 2019 and should take approximately 11 months to complete.
Filming:
The upgrade will affect the filming options available in WCNP for the period of the infrastructure upgrade.
Preekstoel will remain available as a filming location with the following options available
Option 1 : One Single crew : Maximum 40 pax and 15 vehicles.
Option 2 : Two crews and only if only available if both each crews are 15 pax and 5 vehicles each. Both : both crews would need to access the beach from Preekstoel parking area . One crew will allowed use Preekstoel Area and the other crew the Kraalbaai Area.
No parking is available at Kraalbaai during this period.
Bookings are on a ‘First come, first serve’ basis.
Should option one be exercised by the first crew who books then regrettably we cannot assist a second crew on site.
Sporting of other Events
Organized events in the park should not be effected by this construction work, unless there is a requirement for the use of the Kraalbaai Parking Area. In such a case event organizers will need to source an alternative site. It is important that event organizers contact management at WCNP as soon as possible in this regard.
We apologise for the inconvenience and trust the final product will exceed visitor expectations and ensure improved facilities for Kraalbaai as a filming and event location
Visitor Tips

- Remember to bring along bathing suit, angling equipment, hat, sun block, walking shoes, camera, binoculars, bird and mammal reference books.
- Water sport enthusiasts should acquaint themselves with local conditions and boating and angling regulations.
- Due to the recreational zoning of the park some water sports are restricted to certain areas. Please adhere to regulations.
- No alcohol is permitted in any of the public areas such as picnic and braai sites as well as on beaches and around the lagoon.
