Road works along the R27 West Coast Road

Road works are currently taking place along the R27 West Coast Road. Visitors are asked to plan their trip accordingly and add an extra hour when visiting the Park. WCNP Management thanks the public for their patience.

Road closures at West Coast National Park

Due to a triathlon taking place in the park on 18 March 2017, access to Kraalbaai parking area will be partially closed to visitors until 14h00pm.

Due to the West Coast Marathon taking place on 6 May 2017, the park’s gates will only open from 13h00pm for visitors.

WCNP Management thanks visitors for their patience during this period.

Joanne's Beach Cottage:

Please note that there is currently construction underway next to Jo-annes beach cottage in the Park. Please bear with us as there may be some noise between 09h00am and 17h00pm daily. WCNP apologises for the inconvenience, the construction is estimated to be finalised by the end of January 2017.

Visitor Tips

  1. Read more about the work done by the SANParks Honorary Rangers of the West Coast Region on the Heritage Blog.
  2. Remember to bring along bathing suit, angling equipment, hat, sun block, walking shoes, camera, binoculars, bird and mammal reference books.
  3. Water sport enthusiasts should acquaint themselves with local conditions and boating and angling regulations.
  4. Due to the recreational zoning of the park some water sports are restricted to certain areas. Please adhere to regulations.
  5. No alcohol is permitted in any of the public areas such as picnic and braai sites as well as on beaches and around the lagoon.
