Langebaan – The 2026 Wildflower Season is officially underway at West Coast National Park (WCNP), with SANParks welcoming visitors since 1 August to 30 September 2026. The iconic Postberg section of the park officially opened on 1 August 2026 and will remain open until 30 September 2026, offering visitors the opportunity to experience one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural floral displays.

While some flower species have emerged sooner than usual, the timing and intensity of the annual display remain dependent on weather conditions throughout the season. Visitors can therefore expect the landscape to continue transforming over the coming weeks as more species come into bloom.

The annual flower season is one of the park’s busiest tourism periods, attracting visitors from across South Africa and around the world. During the 2025 flower season, West Coast National Park welcomed more than 23,000 visitors during August, while the Postberg section recorded approximately 7,500 vehicle entries over the season. SANParks looks forward to welcoming another successful season in 2026.

Visitors can enhance their experience by purchasing the popular Spring Flowers Booklet at the Postberg entrance gate. Developed by the West Coast Region SANParks Honorary Rangers as a fundraising initiative, the guide assists visitors in identifying the diverse range of wildflowers found throughout the park while contributing towards conservation initiatives.

Plan your trips around the best flower viewing conditions, which are typically on sunny days between late morning and mid-afternoon when the flowers are fully open.
