Red Rocks

Red Rocks also has local cultural history. In the early 1890s it was known to the local people as Ribye-ra-Gudzani (meaning Gudzani’s Rock), derived from the name of one of their gods, Khubyane. When passing through the area, the indigenous people would always pay tribute to Khubyane by offering some of their possessions like tobacco, a small piece of meat or a piece of clothing. Such rituals were to ensure divine protection during their journeys.
