You are Nature: Competition Details, Terms and Conditions

In Heritage Month, WWF and SANParks are teaming up to celebrate and support South Africa's national parks – a shared pride for all South Africans.

By making a minimum donation of R300, you will be entered into our competition draw, where you stand the chance to win one of the following prizes:

  • First Prize: An opportunity for two people to accompany the SANParks game capture team for one day as they conduct game capture operations in a South African national park.
  • Second Prize: An opportunity for a group of four people to experience a Wilderness Trail in the Kruger National Park.
  • Third Prize: Three winners will each receive two nights' accommodation for two people sharing, at a national park of their choice.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Entrants

1.1. Directors, members, partners, agents, consultants, tenants or employees of WWF-SA and SANParks (from here on referred to as the 'Organisers'), and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter this competition.
1.2. This competition will not be open to persons under the age of 18.

2. Term

2.1. The competition shall be run from 17 September 2020 to 5 November 2020, both dates inclusive.

3. The Prizes

3.1. First Prize is a Game Capture Experience for two people, conducted by SANParks in a South African National Park.
3.2. Second prize is a Wilderness Trail in the Kruger National Park, for four people.
3.3. There are three third prizes to be awarded, each consisting of two nights' SANParks-managed accommodation for two people sharing, at a national park of their choice.
3.4. These prizes are described in more detail in Annexure 1.
3.5. In the event that the Prizes specified in the Competition become unavailable for any reason, the Organisers may substitute a Prize of like or equal value.
3.6. Prizes are subject to availability.
3.7. All prizes issued will require the winners to complete indemnity forms when participating in/making use of the prizes.

4. Entries

4.1. Entrants are entered into the competition upon confirmation that they have donated at least R300 to the SANParks/WWF crowdfunding campaign, via the Fundraising Cause page on www.sanparks.org/fundraising/.
4.2. An entrant will be granted one entry into the competition draw, for each individual donation of a minimum of R300.
4.3. Entrants are to provide an email address and contact number when making the donation online.
4.4. The Organisers take no responsibility for any inability of an entrant to enter, complete, continue or conclude the competition due to equipment or technical malfunction, busy lines, inadvertent disconnection or otherwise.
4.5. By entering this competition, the entrant accepts the full terms, conditions and rules of this competition and agrees to abide by these rules and any requirements and/or proceedings issued by the Organisers with regard to the competition. No further correspondence will be entered into regarding the terms and conditions.
4.6. SANParks will provide Section 18(a) tax certificates on request via the Fundraising Department via Ms Nthabiseng on email: [email protected].

5. The Winners

5.1. Each Prize will be awarded to the first entrant drawn at random, starting with the first prize, then the second prize, then each of the third prizes (witnessed by an independent auditor), by SANParks and WWF SA. The winners will be notified by the Organisers via email within one (1) month of the Prize draw. If the contact details provided by the entrant is not valid, he/she will forfeit the Prize, and another winner will be drawn.
5.2. The prize draw will be conducted on Friday, 13 November 2020.
5.3. The results of the competition will be verified by an independent auditor selected by the Organisers.
5.4. The Winner accepts the Prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies the Organisers in respect of any claim for any accident, injury, or property damage that may occur in connection with the Prize to the fullest extent allowed by law.
5.5. The Prize is exclusively for the Winner (subject to paragraph 3.5) and is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash or another prize, and must be accepted by the Winner within one month of winning the Prize or he/she will forfeit the Prize.
5.6. The Winner may be requested to be photographed and interviewed by the promoters and have his/her name published in promoter correspondence or digital platforms.
5.7. Where a diligent attempt to contact the Winner fails or the winner elects not to take the Prize or is unable to take the Prize for whatever reason, the Organisers reserves the right to either draw another Winner or not award a Prize at all, in its sole discretion.
5.8. If, after successful notification, the Prize is not collected within one month of being announced it will be regarded as forfeit.
5.9. The Organisers are not liable for any costs incurred by a winner in claiming, collecting, taking delivery of or utilising the Prize.

6. The Promoter

6.1. The Organisers reserve the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entry and to refuse the entry of any person who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who tampers with any process in redeeming the Prize.
6.2. The Organisers may refuse the redemption of any Prize in the event of any irregularities or fraudulent activities.
6.3. South African law shall govern these competition rules and the courts of South Africa shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
6.4. The Organisers reserve the right to extend, reasonably shorten or suspend the time period of the Competition for technical or commercial or operational reasons or for the greater public good or due to a “force majeure” event or generally for any reason whatsoever within its sole discretion, on condition that it notifies the participants in a manner that is expedient according to its best ability.
6.5. The Organisers would like to state that the objective of the crowdfunding campaign is to raise funds for the SANParks conservation mandate. Furthermore, organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and/or terminate this Competition immediately at any stage, whether required as a result of changes in legislation, or if required by any national, provincial or municipal authority, or within the sole discretion of the Organisers for any reason whatsoever. Notice of such termination shall be published on Facebook. In such an event, all Participants waive any rights that they may have/purport to have in terms of this Competition and acknowledge that they will have no refund or recourse against the Organisers whatsoever.
6.6. All participants and the winners indemnify the Organisers, their associated and subsidiary companies, and directors, officers and employees, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever from their participation in any way whatsoever in this Competition, save for any direct loss arising as a result of the Organisers' gross negligence.

Prize Details (Annexure 1)

Prize Description Terms
1 x Game Capture Experience for two people (1st Prize) An opportunity for two people to accompany the SANParks game capture team for one day as they conduct capture operations in a South African national park.
  • The availability and dates are dependent on the SANParks planned game capture calendar.
  • The prize winner will be presented with 3 – 5 game capture dates, which they can choose from to attend.
  • The prize includes accommodation and one day's attendance at a game capture, conducted in a South African national park.
  • The accommodation will be for three nights (the night before the capture, night of, and night after). This will also allow some flexibility should there be bad weather, etc.
  • The prize and accommodation are for two people, sharing.
  • The prize does not include transport, meals, Wild Cards, Conservation Fees, activities or any other expenses incurred.
  • The prize winners will be required to complete an indemnity form.
1 x Wilderness Trail for four people (2nd Prize) An opportunity for a group of four people to experience a Wilderness Trail in the Kruger National Park.
  • The Wilderness Trail is subject to availability.
  • The winners can choose any of the seven Wilderness Trails offered by SANParks, in the Kruger National Park.
  • The prize offers two units at the Wilderness Trail, which will sleep two people each (sharing).
  • The prize is only valid for people between the ages of 12 and 65 years.
  • Wilderness trails start on either a Wednesday afternoon to a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon to a Wednesday morning.
  • It is a three-night trail with the two days in between spent walking.
  • Winners arrive and book in at the reception of the rest camp from where the trail departs.
  • The prize includes the wilderness trail and meals offered during the trail.
  • The prize does not include transport, accommodation before/after the trail, snacks, additional activities or any other expenses incurred.
  • The prize winners will be required to complete an indemnity form.
  • The prize voucher needs to be utilised within 12 months from date of issue.
3x Two nights' SANParks-managed accommodation at a national park Two nights' accommodation for two people sharing, at a national park of their choice.
  • The accommodation is valid for two people, sharing.
  • The accommodation can be booked at any national park, subject to availability.
  • The accommodation has to be booked within 12 months of the Prize voucher being issued.
  • The Prize voucher is for accommodation only and does not include the cost of travel, conservation fees, Wild Card purchases, activities, meals, etc.
  • The prize voucher is for SANParks-managed accommodation only. The prize cannot be utilised for any accommodation offered by SANParks concessionaires and/or partners.
  • The prize winners will be required to complete an indemnity form.
  • The prize voucher needs to be utilised within 12 months from date of issue.
