Two weeks of holiday fun at Mountain Zebra National Park

Both young and those young at heart are invited to enjoy Mountain Zebra National Park’s end-of-year school holiday programme kicking off on Monday 3 December. While fun and adventure will be the order of the activities, participants will hardly realise they’re learning valuable lessons at the same time.

Besides the Conservation/entry fee payable upon arrival at the Park, all the activities will be free of charge with the exception of the game drives for the youngsters. Children between the ages of five and 13 will be able to go out into the Park at a reduced fee of only R60 per child from 11:30 to 13:30 between 3 and 14 December. A minimum of four and a maximum of 12 can be accommodated per game drive.

The programme runs for two weeks, starting at 11AM in the Conference room daily – with each day assigned its own fun, yet educational theme. It is open to both guests checked in at the Park, as well as day visitors.

  • Monday 3 December – Face painting
  • Tuesday 4 December – How did the zebra get its stripes?
  • Wednesday 5 December – Kiddies’ game drive: spot the mammals
  • Thursday 6 December – Scavenger hunt: explore nature on foot
  • Friday 7 December – Movies
  • Saturday 8 December – Arts and crafts: making dream catchers
  • Monday 10 December – The past within the present: ancient rock art drawings
  • Tuesday 11 December – Game drive: carnivore hunt
  • Wednesday 12 December – Cycle of life
  • Thursday 13 December – Game drive: bird identification (spot the difference)
  • Friday 14 December – Creative arts: animal creation (play dough)
