The Vlakkenberg Fire, which started on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, is well contained

Fire crews continue to monitor and address isolated hotspots along the left flank of Constantia Nek and surrounding wine farm areas. Approximately 60 ground personnel remain actively deployed along the fire line. Due to the terrain, certain areas are inaccessible to vehicles, and water tanks remain on standby to support operations.

With cloud cover lifting, firefighting teams have resumed movement along the fire line. Aerial drone surveillance has been instrumental in identifying remaining hotspots.

At this stage, no infrastructure or farms are at risk.

Crews will remain on duty throughout today and tonight to ensure the fire remains under control.
