Temporary Full Closure of the Storms River Mouth Suspension Bridge From 20 to 31 July 2026.

Access to the Suspension Bridge in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park will be temporarily closed from 20 July to 31 July 2026 to complete the final phase of refurbishment work.

To enable the contractor to complete the remaining work, the suspension bridge and access to all three suspension bridges will not be accessible during this period. This temporary full closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and construction personnel while the final refurbishment activities are carried out.

SANParks is pleased to advise that the project has progressed well, and the overall completion date has been brought forward. The refurbishment is now expected to be completed by 31 July 2026, with full public access to all three suspension bridges resuming from 1 August 2026.

We appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by visitors, tour operators, and local stakeholders throughout the refurbishment period. These improvements will enhance the safety, longevity, and visitor experience of one of the Garden Route National Park’s most iconic attractions.

SANParks apologises for the inconvenience caused by this temporary closure and looks forward to welcoming visitors back to enjoy the fully refurbished suspension bridge from 1 August 2026.
