Successful Arrest Of Card Scamming Suspects Near Table Mountain

A swift and coordinated effort between the SANParks Sea, Air, Mountain (SEAM) Special Operators and the Camps Bay CID has led to the successful arrest of three suspects involved in credit card scamming targeting tourists near Lion’s Head.

The suspects were operating from a white BMW and used a fraudulent card device to attempt to scam international tourists. They left the card machine and took the credit cards belonging to the tourists.

Thanks to the quick response from the SEAM team and prompt notification to the Camps Bay CID, the vehicle was flagged and later located by Metro Police in the Green Point area. The suspects were arrested for driving with false plates and possession of a card scamming device. No financial losses were incurred by the victims as the attempted transactions were unsuccessful.

SANParks and its partners remain committed to ensuring the safety of all visitors in and around Table Mountain National Park.
