Reminder On The Use Of Drones In The Kruger National Park
South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to remind the public that flying of unmanned aerial vehicles which are commonly known as drones is ...
It is with great joy that we can announce that the “Spirit of Tsitsikamma” Boat Operation on the Storms River is back in operation. SANParks is operating the boat cruise from the Storms River Mouth Rest Camp in Tsitsikamma National Park.
The trip up the otherwise inaccessible Storms River Gorge gives visitors the opportunity to view the gorge firsthand and to marvel at one of nature’s many wonders. Huge caverns are interspersed on either side of the river, some which extend upwards for 20 meters, providing a habitat for rare Bat species.
The “Sprit of Tsitsikamma” can accommodate groups of up to 22 and runs every 45 minutes. It departs from the old jetty below the suspension bridge, which can be reached after a half an hour walk along the Mouth Trail. This 800m boardwalk winds its way along the coastal forest, ending at the suspension bridge below the Khoisan Cave. Tour operators should budget about two hours in time for this activity. Tickets are sold at R40 per person (adults and children) from the boat. However, it is advisable for bigger groups to book in advance at the Tourist information desk during office hours on tel. 042 281 1607 ext. 251.
Suspension Bridge – Storms River Mouth
We would like to inform all operators that the Suspension Bridge crossing the Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park will be closed to visitors from 26 January 2006 until 17 March 2006. Due to the age of the installation and that it will become a safety risk, SANParks has decided to replace the bridge, which is 40 years old with a new one. The trail will still be open and the boat rides will not be affected.
