SANParks Deploy Fire Trucks To Assist Knysna Municipality With Water Crisis

South African National Parks (SANParks) has deployed two fire trucks to support the Knysna Municipality in response to the ongoing water crisis affecting the area.

This proactive measure forms part of SANParks’ ongoing commitment to community support and intergovernmental collaboration, especially during times of emergency. The fire trucks, stationed in the Garden Route National Park, have been made available to assist with water distribution and relief efforts as part of the broader municipal response.

Knysna Municipality activated a Joint Operations Centre (JOC) on 14 May 2025 to coordinate and manage the water supply challenges in the town. While SANParks is not part of the JOC, it is working with the Municipality to support both the response efforts and residents.

SANParks remains in communication with local authorities and will continue to assess the situation to provide additional support where feasible.
