South African National Parks (SANParks) will be celebrating the legacy of former South African president, Dr Nelson Mandela on his 100th birthday tomorrow (18 July 2018). Throughout South Africa and the rest of the world, people will honour Madiba by doing good deeds for their fellow human beings.
SANParks will showcase a travelling exhibition of newspaper cuttings of Nelson Mandela that will start at Groenkloof National Park and travel around the country to the other national parks for 100 days in celebration of the centenary. The centenary aims to promote Madiba’s ethos of “Ubuntu” by advancing our collective unity, irrespective of race, creed, and orientation.
According to the SANParks Head of Communication, Janine Raftopoulos, “the birthday of Mandela will forever be celebrated as it provides a unique opportunity for people around the world to reflect on his life and times and to promote his legacy. The great sacrifices he made and his tireless commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable are indisputable.” Take action. Inspire change. Make every day a Mandela day.
