The Knysna Pollution Action Committee (including SANParks managers of the Garden Route National Park), the Knysna Municipality, Eden District Municipality and the Knysna Basin Project) has agreed to take samples every week during the Knysna Oyster Festival.
Various water activities in the Knysna estuary include swimming, stand up paddling, jet skiing, boating, sailing, snorkeling and diving.
The Knysna estuary is the largest on the south coast and possesses the highest plant and animal diversity of all South African estuaries.
