Bontebok National Park will commence a phased reopening on 1 August 2026, following extensive rehabilitation work undertaken after the flood damage experienced in May 2026.

Significant progress has been made in restoring affected infrastructure, making it possible to safely reopen parts of the park to visitors while rehabilitation work continues in other areas.

The first phase of the reopening will include six self-catering chalets, the camping site, as well as the Aloe Hill, Acacia, and Termite Hiking Trail.

The eight riverside chalets affected by the floods are still undergoing refurbishment and are therefore not yet available for reservations. Die Stroom Picnic Site and the Bushbuck Trail will also remain closed until rehabilitation work has been completed.

A phased reopening approach will continue to be implemented, with additional facilities and visitor experiences becoming available as restoration work progresses. Updates on the reopening of these facilities will be communicated as they become available.
