Fire Incident at Skukuza Warehouse – Kruger National Park

A fire occurred at a storage warehouse in Skukuza, Kruger National Park, during the late hours of Saturday, 18 July 2026.

The warehouse in question is situated a considerable distance from all tourism accommodation and administrative offices. As such, there was no immediate risk to guests or core operational facilities, and no injuries have been reported.

At this stage, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. A full investigation is underway, with relevant emergency and technical teams on site to secure the area and assess the extent of the damage.

The warehouse housed critical infrastructure components, including spare generators, geysers, substantial quantities of electrical cabling, and other essential maintenance equipment.

The loss of these assets may have a short-term effect on certain maintenance operations within the park.

SANParks is committed to restoring affected operations as swiftly as possible and will provide further updates as verified information becomes available.
