The General Manager for the GRNP, Jill Bunding-Venter says the Park achieved an impressive tourism income. “Tsitsikamma has shown a significant improvement in tourism income; 10% improvement in REI and 115% income to cost ratio.”
The team in Bloukrans (conservation), Tsitsikamma, clinched the Best Performing division, for maintaining the Otter trail, which is an attraction to the Park. The highly motivated and hard working team could not stop smiling.
Area Manager, Lesley Ann Meyer says her team works hard to ensure the diverse nature playground for adventure tourists remains impeccable, innovative and relevant today. “This is the best pre-birthday gift as we prepare to celebrate the Park”s 50th in September.”
The Tsitsikamma Honorary rangers were awarded the “Best Business Partner Award” for the Year for displaying a high level of commitment and passion to conservation. This team also made the Region proud when they were awarded Best Region at an Indaba held two months ago.
Professor Christo Fabricius of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) won this year”s research initiatives and innovation award. This was to acknowledge the dynamic networks and collaborative research he undertakes. “His strong emphasis on participative research has contributed in building capacity for learning and adapting” according to SANParks scientist, Dr. Dirk Roux.
