Media Release: The Waterberg unites against rhino poaching on World Rhino Day

The campaign will run over the weekend of 20 – 21 September with participating role players and volunteers. On Friday the 20th of September there will be a visual presence on the roads from 15h00 onwards with participating role players out in full force spreading a unified message in towns like, Thabazimbi, Vaalwater, Modimole, Lephalale, and Marken.

“Over 620 rhino have been poached in this year alone and we felt we should come together as stakeholders in the region to raise awareness in this regard.” said Mr Gustav Collins of the Save the Waterberg Rhino.

Saturday the 21st of September will see the participants out on the roads again as well as information stands at local shopping centres. Members of the public are invited to visit these stands and get more information regarding rhino poaching and how they can help to make a difference.

Stakeholders involved in this campaign include SANParks, Save the Waterberg Rhino, Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, SAPS, Stoprhinopoaching.com, PROA, QUEMIC, Welgevonden, SIG, STTU, Waterberg Ranger Services, Nkwe and local CPF”s. This however, does not stop those who will be interested to come and join.
