South African National Parks (SANParks) today, 18 January 2019 announced that two of the Field Rangers who were arrested on Tuesday 15 January 2019 in Crocodile Bridge on suspicion of involvement in rhino poaching appeared in the Skukuza Magistrate Court on Thursday, 17 January 2019 and were granted bail.
Bail was fixed at R10 000 each with strict conditions; which include not travelling without informing the investigating office, barring them from having contact either physically or by electronic means with rangers as well as being under 24 hours house arrest.
The two suspects who were granted bail are Mr Lucky Mkansi (30 years old) and Mr Nzima Joe Sihlangu (32 years old); SANParks internal disciplinary procedures against them are also underway.
The third Field Ranger arrested, is due to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrate Court on Friday, 18 January 2019.
