The airport licence was not re-issued after it expired on 1 November because the existing fire engine did not meet the standards as set out in the new Aviation Act. The airport was, however, allowed to operate under an exemption granted by the acting aviation commissioner.
“The follow-up inspection went as planned and the airport licence has been re-issued,” said SANParks Director of Parks Johan van der Merwe.
