The marathon, which aims to improve the wellbeing and heath of the surrounding communities, was initiated by Biodiversity Social Projects (BSP)”s Working for Water in the Park as part of SANParks vision of “Connecting to Society”. It is a follow up to the successful marathon held last year and this year promises to be even bigger.

The event will take place as follows:
Date: Saturday, 15 November 2014
Venue: Golden Gate (Basotho Cultural Village) to QwaQwa (Setsing Super Spar)
Starting time: 06:00
Prize giving: To take place immediately afterwards at the Setsing Super Spar

Park Manager, Sithembile Mhlophe said “This is a great opportunity for us to engage with the community and beneficiaries of our different programmes with the main purpose of encouraging them to participate in sports as well as taking their health matters seriously”.

There are two main races which are a fun run for 5 km and the main race which stretches over 21 km. Different prizes are up for grabs on the day and registration forms can be obtained at Setsing Super Spar or at the Park by contacting Mr Richard Ubisi on 058 255 0925.
