SANParks Northern Region Parks (Marakele, Mapungubwe and Golden Gate) have a new General Manager as of October 2017. Mr Reuben Ngwenya, comes from within SANParks and was one of the regional managers in the Kruger National Park.

This position became vacant after Lombard Shirindzi who had a short stay in the organisation left in August to pursue other interests. Reuben, a conservationist at heart, brings with him over 27 years of experience in the field of Conservation and he holds a Master”s Degree in Environmental Management.

Before joining SANParks, Mr Ngwenya worked as the Head: Biodiversity Conservation for Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, a position he held for five years. He has also occupied the position of Executive Director: Biodiversity Conservation for the Eastern Cape Parks.
