South African National Parks (SANParks) General Manager: Sales and Marketing, Bheki Zwane, said “this unique offering, was introduced as part of SANParks product diversification as well as a response to the demand from the consumers for such a product in the Namaqua area during the flowers season”.

He said this temporary Flowers Beach Camp serves as way for people to experience the splashes of vibrant colours along the rocky coast that Namaqualand is renowned for.

The beach camp was moved to the section of Namaqua National Park called Delwerskamp last year and says Zwane, this was a good move as this site is easily accessible by normal sedan. For those people who wish to further explore Namaqua National Park beyond the camp a 4×4 vehicle is strictly required.

Zwane said for a single tented accommodation visitors will be expected to pay R2475 per night, while double accommodation will cost R3 300 per night. The Flowers Beach Camp will operate from 30 August to 30 September 2013. Quoted rates include accommodation, brunch, high tea and dinner. All drinks, transfers and activities are excluded.

Activities range from walking along the coastline searching for seals, dolphins, whales, meerkats and other wildlife to exploring the park by mountain bikes or in a 4×4 vehicle.
