Media Release: Invitation to join the Camdeboo National Park Forum

The Park Forum was established to create a good, ongoing relationships with communities, municipalities, tourism organisations, formalised agriculture and relevant government departments. Park Forums are a means of providing a legitimate platform to communicate park/SANParks issues and to ensure participation of all stakeholders on matters of mutual relevance affecting the Park.

The members meet on a quarterly basis at the Park”s boardroom at its office on the N9 outside Graaff-Reinet. The meetings always include reports on Biodiversity Social Projects, Conservation, People and Conservation, SANParks” Rural Development Programme and an update from the Park”s Honorary Rangers.

Park Manager, Peter Burdett, says they”ve seen a steady decline in the number of members to the meetings every quarter over the past year or so. “The Park Forum is our way of informing all local stakeholders about developments inside the Park, and gives them first-hand information on the Park”s operations. It is also their platform to express concerns about Park-specific issues, if they have any, or there might even be ways in which they park can assist in their operations.”

Anyone requesting further information or interested in attending the next Park Forum meeting may contact People and Conservation Officer, Rosemary Scheepers on [email protected] or (049) 892 3453.
