Media Release: Golden Gate hosts a Unity Walk to celebrate Human Rights Month

Golden Gate Highlands National Park (GGHNP) celebrated the Human Rights month with a 17 KM walk from the town of Clarens to the Park”s gate. The walk, titled the Unity Walk, aimed at uniting the park” stakeholders towards the same purpose of a healthy lifestyle.

The Park”s employees came with their children and were joined by stakeholders from the SAPS and Department of Health. Amongst the participants were some elders from the Park who gave young people a run for their money.

The walk was completed in less than four hours and the first to arrive made it in three hours. At the end of the walk colleagues requested that such walks should be done on a monthly basis and mobilise the local community in the effort of living out the organisation”s vision of “sustainable national parks connecting to society”
