Media Release: Further Chance To Comment on KNP Management Plan

The Kruger National Park’s management plan has been drafted and stakeholders are invited to view the plan before it is finalised…

To give stakeholders a chance to air their views about the plan, three stakeholder engagement meetings at locations strategically situated around the park have been arranged and all stakeholders are invited to attend.

These meetings form part of the public participatory process of the drafting of the new KNP management plan as required by Section 39 (read with Section 41) of the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act No 57 of 2003.

The KNP will distribute the management plan before and at these meetings for comment.

Further to this overall plan, the different departments of the KNP (ie tourism, conservation, etc) will also have plans drafted by that time which will also be available on request. The various KNP managers will be on hand at all the meetings and will present highlights and the strategic intentions of their plans.

Meetings will take place at the following venues: Hazyview at the Numbi Hotel on Wednesday August 23, 2006 at 09:30; Phalaborwa at the Municipality Hall on Wednesday August 30, 2006 at 09:30 and Giyani in the banquet hall of the old Parliamentary Building on Friday September 1, 2006 at 09:30.

For more information on the meetings, please contact Nkateko Chauke on 013 735 4340 during office hours.
