Media Release: Excellent performance award for a conservationist at heart

Tshokolo Joseph Molefe’s excellent performance award was not a surprise for him and his colleagues at Marakele National Park. After winning the Regional Manager’s award at the Northern Region awards August, his colleagues knew there was no stopping this dedicated employee of the organisation. THe received the award at the SANParks Kudu Awards that were held on Thursday night, 27 November 2017 at the CSIR Convention Centre in Pretoria.

Molefe’s career with SANParks spans over two decades and has seen him grow from being a field ranger to a Ranger corporal leading a team of five field rangers, twenty-five (25) environmental monitors and the Working on Fire team. His team is responsible for the Dithabaneng section of the Park which is currently a leading section at 62.60% on the State of Area Integrity Management (SoAIM) within Marakele and the Northern region at large.

“It is every organisation’s wish to retain their excellent performers and I am happy that Marakele National Park has been able to retain Tshokolo for more than 23 years enjoying the fruits of his dedication and loyalty. He is everything that fits a perfect picture of excellence and dedication to the mission of the organisation”. said Park Manager of Marakele, Mr Mphadeni Nthangeni.

Nthangeni also added that “Molefe is leading his ranger post with absolute diligence despite all the challenges facing rhino parks and many other endangered wild life species”. Since 1994, his integrity has earned him respect among his colleagues. The highly multi-skilled Tshokolo is also a prolific dog handler who stops at nothing if he suspects poachers have been in the Park.

“The above character can only mean one thing and is such employees are hard to come by, excellence is his second nature, running through his DNA is unmatched commitment to SANParks and what it stands for and I hope this award will just motivate him to work even harder” concluded Nthangeni.
