Media Release: Commission of enquiry into the Kruger National Park Fire
The commission is tasked to enquire into, make findings and report on matters regarding the fire in which 23 people were killed in the Pretoriuskop area of the park. The commission is expected to make its inquiries with special reference to the origin of the fire, fire hazards at the time, the Kruger National Park”s fire policy, emergency procedures, and conditions of employment for temporary staff. It will also make recommendations on how similar situations can be avoided and or minimised in the future.
