“We came here to ask for God”s intervention in this war and are encouraged by the on-going unconditional support we get from religious institutions. What we are fighting against is more than evil; it cannot be exorcized by human beings alone and needs that divine spiritual intervention from God. We are grateful to have churches stepping in to help us in the fight against the torture that our rhino are currently facing”, said the Managing Executive: KNP, Glenn Phillips.
Prayers for protection of the anti-poaching teams and security forces, the KNP management and staff; as well the poachers and master minds (kingpins) themselves, were conducted by the various church ministers who graced the occasion.
“With a continuous cooperation from all levels of society, the success in catching the criminals will rise and we may ultimately win the fight against these criminals”, commented Phillips.
The spiritual assembly has become an annual event in the KNP calendar since 2012; when it was held at Shingwedzi Rest Camp with Christians coming together to declare war against rhino poachers.
The latest statistics released at the end of August 2015, indicate that since the beginning of 2015, in the whole country; out of the 749 rhinos – 544 were killed in the KNP. 138 poachers have been arrested in KNP since January 2015 and 35 of these arrests were made during the month of July alone as well.

Pastor Dean Skinner, from Calvary Assembly – White River prays for the protection of security forces in the Park.
Pastor Everisto Mupeta prays for the KNP Management and Staff.
The KNP Choir “Voices of the Wild” rendered songs about the rhino and gave encouragement to the Ranger Corps – in the middle of the choir is General Johan Jooste – Chief Ranger.
