South African National Parks says there is overwhelming support from Cape Town residents for firefighters currently fighting a running fire in Table Mountain National Park. “Scores of community members and businesses came in numbers, Sunday, 18 April 2021 at the Newlands Firebase to drop off food, water, energy drinks and an assortment of other necessities required,” said TMNP Park Manager Frans van Rooyen.
South African National Parks appreciates the gesture and support from Capetonians in this difficult time. This is not an easy fire which will probably see firefighters fighting the blaze for at least three days and all the help received will go a long way for the firefighters. “This is highly appreciated and anyone who still wants to donate may still drop off donations at the Newlands Firebase off the M3 highway”, said van Rooyen.
