Knysna Anglers Receive Support as SANParks and Honorary Rangers Donate Fishing Equipment

SANParks and Honorary Rangers, Knysna Region donated fishing equipment to fifty-one (51) local anglers on Friday, 27 February 2026 at the Hornlee Community Hall in Knysna. The beneficiaries, all aged 45 years and above, rely on fishing as a vital source of food and as part of their longstanding cultural traditions.

The donation included fishing rods with reels, tackle boxes stocked with hooks and sinkers, descales, and prawn pumps, ensuring that anglers are equipped with appropriate tools to practise safe, ethical, and compliant angling.

Additionally, SANParks provided anglers with fishing permits through the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment, and provided sunhats and branded t-shirts. This integrated support ensured that beneficiaries not only received appropriate equipment but also operated within the required regulatory framework.
