Karoo National Park has been awarded the title of Best Performing Park for the second year in a row at this year’s annual SANParks Frontier Region Achievement Awards. Park Manager, Nico van der Walt, and his staff walked away highly victorious yet again from this year’s event which took place in Cradock last week.
This was not the Park’s only team award. They won the night’s second most prestigious award – Best Performing Camp, the second time in four years in which they’ve brought this accolade home. The Karoo Ranger Corps also bagged an award for Special Team Effort for their role in the arrest of a suspect accused of attempted rhino poaching inside the Park’s border last year.
Individual awards were bestowed on Hospitality Supervisor, Gertruida “Joey” van der Westhuizen in the Excellent Performance in the Workplace category and Markus Louw, the Park’s Gate Guard, for Best Customer Service. Park Manager, Nico van der Walt, walked away with the Best Leadership of the Year award for the second time in three years.
The awards evening takes place annually and gives recognition to individuals, teams and parks for outstanding work in the previous financial year – in this case 2017/18. The Frontier Region is made up of the Addo Elephant, Camdeboo, Garden Route, Karoo and Mountain Zebra National Parks.
Congratulations to all!
Karoo National Park staff brought three individual and three team awards back to the Park from the annual Frontier Region Achievement Awards evening recently.
