Body Of A Suspected Poacher Found In Kruger National Park
This morning Kruger National Park (KNP) Management received reports about the body of a suspected poacher that was left along the road in the Pretoriu...
Work on the restoration project is expected to be completed by mid-October and it is hoped to open Winterhoek to the public before the start of the holiday season. Peter Burdett, Park Manager of Camdeboo National Park is however faced with the challenge of furnishing the buildings with period antique Cape furniture, without a budget to do so! He is therefore making an appeal to members of the public who may own any of the items listed on the schedule below that is superfluous to their needs, to consider a donation to this project. The SANParks Honorary Rangers of Camdeboo Region would also like to invite any individuals or corporates that would like to sponsor an item, to donate directly into their banking account. All donations will be recorded on a commemoration plaque that will be displayed within the lodge.

Burdett describes the project as an exciting tourism development in the park which will allow future visitors to experience a bygone era in a cultural and natural landscape more than a century and a half old. This includes a house with an open hearth and “bakoond” in the kitchen, located in a commanding setting with a backdrop of rugged kloofs and a frontal view of the Karoo plains down to the Nqweba Dam. Wildlife including kudu, eland and Cape mountain zebra is abundant in the area and regularly visit a waterhole which can be seen from the “stoep” of the lodge. The bisected landscape and variety of habitats promote a rich birdlife and Burdett expects the lodge to have particular appeal for birding enthusiats.
