Fuel reduction burns to take place in Table Mountain National Park

The burns will consist only of allocated stacks of wood and slash being burnt at each location. Stack burning usually takes place in colder and wetter months between May and October and will only commence after sufficient rain has fallen.

Burning will take place at several sites within the TMNP and unfortunately it will not be possible to notify every homeowner as to the exact day of the burn in advance due to weather being taken into account. No burning will occur in strong/ gale force winds, nor over weekends or public holidays.

Landowners have the right to object to the proposed open burning in writing to the Air Quality Management Department on tell number 021 590 5200 or fax 021 590 5215; or via email to [email protected].

For further enquiries, please contact Table Mountain National Park Fire Manager Philip Prins on 021 689 7438/9.
