SANParks’ Community-Based Economic Inclusion Programme On Display
South African National Parks' (SANParks) economic inclusion interventions are on display today through the support of small-scale fishing communities ...
Table Mountain National Park firefighters fought three fires on the south peninsula yesterday afternoon and into the night but all three are either out or under control.
1. A fire started across the road from the Ocean View Police Station at the base of the Slangkop mountain. It was contained and out in a matter of hours.
2. A fire started in the Noordhoek/ Kommetjie wetland and continued to burn throughout the night but was contained at around 01h00 this morning. Areas of the wetland are still burning but at this stage it remains contained with firefighters patrolling both the left and right flanks. The helicopters are on standby to respond should any flare-ups occur.
3. Late last night another fire was started in the Ocean View area but the TMNP fire crew from the Klaasjagersberg precinct extinguished it before it could spread.
TMNP management appeals to the public to exercise caution in these hot, dry and windy conditions and to report fire or any suspicious behaviour to the 24 hour Emergency Control Room on 021 957 4700.
An update will be sent should the current status change.
