A fire at the Storms River Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park broke out in the restaurant and has affected the restaurant and the nearby shop. A helicopter was dispatched in time to protect the fire from spreading to the forest area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is currently under control and the Park officials will meet on 26 November 2016 to assess the extent of the damage and also a plan for a possible temporary structure for the restaurant. The rest of the camp is safe and visitors can carry on enjoying their stay.
