“During the Christmas holidays, we had to turn back a lot of day visitors at our gates who arrived there with liquor and would not agree to destroy their stock. Some visitors destroyed their liquor in order to gain entry, which is something we do not wish to put our visitors through when visiting the park” said Mr Norman Sanderson, the Acting Managing Executive: Kruger National Park.
The no-liquor rule in the Kruger National Park was introduced at the beginning of last year after there had been a number of cases of speeding, reckless driving, disregard for rules in general, noisy parties on the roads and physical fights, which were directly attributed to alcohol use. Since the implementation of the rule, people”s behaviour has improved.
