The SANParks forum is an online community of people from all over the world who “meet” online to discuss and share SANParks experiences, plan trips, and debate important conservations issues.
SANParks is particularly pleased with participation in the awards this year. As opposed to in previous years where the awards were run on a more ad hoc basis, the 2007 awards saw both award categories and criteria being debated and finalized by a group of SANParks forum members, who formed the Forum Awards Committee (FAC).
The FAC was tasked with compiling a short list of nominees that other forum members could then vote for, as well as with rethinking the categories and the criteria for each award.
The five nominees in each category were then voted for in a blind poll by other forum members. The winners are simply the nominee who obtained the most votes in each category.
Nominees were considered based on contributions from 1 November 2006 up until the present. The 2008 Awards will look at material from the 01 November 2007 onwards.
